It was emotionally traumatizing to me. On the one hand, I was a flag waver out of high school. I couldn't wait to get in and serve my country just like my dad and forebears did. And then, at the other end of it a, a, feeling like I had been given a bad bill of goods. And a, you know, what a sucker I was. That lasted for quite a few years, it wasn't until the moving wall, or not the moving wall but the Vietnam Wall in Washington DC was, was constructed and the movie Platoon came out. The movie Platoon. I went and saw that by myself and I was never ever prepared for what impact it was going to have on me.
